Understanding Author Copies

KDP author copies are printed copies of your book that you can buy from Amazon for the cost price of the printing and shipping. This version is different from a proof copy of your book, which you can order before submitting your book to go live on Amazon. An author copy can only be ordered once your book is live on Amazon, and you will receive the final version of your book.

How to Order Your KDP Author Copies

1. Publish Your Book: Your book must be live on Amazon.

2. On Your Bookshelf: Navigate to the book you want to order an author copy for, either the hardcover or paperback, by selecting the button.

3. No Author Copy Button: You can also find your book and click on the ellipses (three dots) after the title, and in the menu that appears, select “Order Author Copies.”

4. **Specify Quantity: **Choose the number of copies you want to order and submit it.

5. Email Sent: You will receive an email to complete your order.

6. Check Out: Place your copies in the cart and complete the purchase.

What Can You Do with Your Author Copies?

Marketing and Promotion: Use them as giveaways, review copies, or samples to generate interest for your book.
Events and Fairs: Sell them at book fairs, book signings, readings at libraries, or speaking engagements.
Personal Use: Share them with family, friends, or within your local community.
Libraries and Schools: Donate copies to libraries, schools, or community centers.
Online: List them for sale on your own website
